Welcome to UK and to the Hispanic Studies Department!
The Department of Hispanic Studies aims to develop students’ Spanish language skills, to deepen their understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures and literatures domestically and abroad, to sharpen their ability to use critical thinking as they analyze various aspects of Spanish-language texts of all types, and to heighten their awareness of their role as local and global citizens in a pluralistic society. It is our belief that these competencies will empower our students to be successful regardless of where their professional or academic aspirations may take them.
You will find more information on the department by clicking the following links, including requirements for a Major and Minor in Spanish, a sample four-year curricular plan for completing the degree, Transfer Equivalencies - https://admission.uky.edu/transfer/equivalencies , UK Core - http://catalogs.uky.edu/content.php?catoid=7&navoid=294, AP/IB/Dual Credit charts, information on Education Abroad, STEM + World Languages opportunities, and our undergraduate course listings.
