Research Interests:
Spanish as a Heritage Language
Linguistic Antropology/Sociolinguistics
Discurse analysis

As a Spanish teacher, I enjoy helping students discover new cultures, perspectives, values, and beliefs. My expertise in narrative analysis, Spanish linguistic anthropology, and sociolinguistics has led me to explore various research interests, including Spanish heritage languages, Latinx and Latin American studies, sociolinguistics, narrative analysis, and the coloniality of power. I am interested in developing pride through language for heritage speakers, showing them how language perpetuates value systems at the intersection of coloniality of power. I am also interested in exploring the relationship between Latinos/Latinas/Latinx communities and Latin America.
