FLIE Russian

The mission of the FLIE/Russian major is to train students to become strategically placed to respond to the increased globalization of the world economies.  It integrates the study of a world language and its culture, along with international economics, experiential education, experience abroad, and international internships, in order to prepare students for careers in an internationally-focused work environment.  Russia is the largest country in the world, home to a vast array of natural resources as well as expanding business opportunities of both domestic and international companies. Training in both Russian and Economics will give students a leg up in this vital portion of the global economy.
FLIE/Russian students have gone on to work for the US federal government and with government contractors, into the private sector with companies based in Russia or in firms with Russian branches. They have also pursued advanced degrees in law, fashion merchandizing, and in Russian or Slavic Studies. For more information, contact Cynthia Ruder at Cynthia.ruder@uky.edu or (859) 257-7026, 1041 Patterson Office Tower.
